A sturdy stalk. Standing tall. Overlooking a sea of long grasses.

Many varieties of mullein are found in the Rockies. Moth Mullein is considered a noxious weed, making other varieties often misunderstood for their contribution to soil health and biodiversity. You can typically find its fuzzy silver green leaves and tall stalks in open areas and pastures. In fall, mullein’s summer flowers dry out and turn into brown seed capsules. Its commonly used as herbal medicine in the form of teas and tinctures for lung and throat problems such as coughs, congestion, asthma, and allergies.
