Oregon grape is a native shrub known for its sharp toothed leaves. It’s a beacon of resilience - growing in places where few other plants can grow and tolerant of drought and fire. Oregon grape is typically found in dry, rocky areas where it adds a variety of color throughout the year. Its marked by yellow flowers in the spring, blue berries in the fall, and crimson leaves in the winter. Oregon grape contains a yellow pigment with berberine in its stems, used for dye and medicinal properties alike. Its known to support detoxification and liver function.
